During anaphase, a free kinetochore formed by disrupting an attached spindle fiber results in an immediate block to the process. This result shows that:

A.	The chromosomes themselves provide the energy for anaphase through their attachment to spindle fibers.
	Incorrect. If this were true, then the detachment of one chromosome would not stop the others from undergoing separation.
