This opened length of the aorta shows changes consistent with mild atheroma. There are small areas of lighter tissue in the opened lumen, which are the beginnings of lipid plaques. However, at this stage there is virtually no risk of spontaneous plaque rupture, and this is ofthen an incidental finding at autopsy. |
