- The mouth, tongue and oesophagus were normal.
- The stomach had a normal mucosa, but contained a small ammount of altered blood.
- The duodenum was normal with no evidence of previous ulceration visible.
- The large bowel showed extensive diverticular disease with no evidence of obstruction - the mesentery was normal. A section of the bowel was removed and cleaned for further examination (see picture)
