diverticular section of bowel
  • The mouth, tongue and oesophagus were normal.
  • The stomach had a normal mucosa, but contained a small ammount of altered blood.
  • The duodenum was normal with no evidence of previous ulceration visible.
  • The large bowel showed extensive diverticular disease with no evidence of obstruction - the mesentery was normal. A section of the bowel was removed and cleaned for further examination (see picture)
