Welcome to the Virtual Autopsy, a teaching resource developed primarily for preclinical medical students at Leicester University, written by me, Tim Taylor, a student at Leicester Medical School. The site originally started as part of a Special Study Module on my course; since then, the site has grown to meet demand, with more cases and tutorials as the need arose.
The design is based around twelve autopsy cases, with the aim being to determine the cause of death for each one. The site also includes tutorials on the anatomy and physiology of the various systems studied in the autopsy cases, and an evaluation section so that I can get some feedback and modify the site accordingly. If you have any questions, comments or mistakes to point out, please email me on TRT1@le.ac.uk.
For instructions on how to use the site, please click on 'introduction to the autopsy' on the main screen.
If you think you've got cases that could be added to the site, email me and I'll send you the templates for the cases so you can add your own text and images.
None of the information on this site is to be taken as equal to, or better than, the advice given by a qualified health care professional; it has been designed for teaching purposes only.
