Il 16 novembre 2011 è stato pubblicato sul Journal of Hospital Medicine Early View un importante studio indipendente condotto da ricercatori della Università di Harvard su UpToDate, strumento di informazioni mediche Evidence Based, che dimostra:

· L’utilizzo di UpToDate ha portato una diminuzione della mortalità ospedaliera: 11,500 vite salvate in un periodo di tre anni

· Diminuzione della durata della degenza ospedaliera: gli ospedali analizzati hanno visto una diminuzione di 372,500 giorni di degenza per anno

· Miglioramento della qualità dell’ospedale – migliori performance di qualità per ogni tipo di condizione presente nelle Hospital Quality Alliance metrics

Conducted by researchers at Harvard University, the study revealed hospitals that had adopted UpToDate vs. same Hospitals before the adoption of UpToDate and non-UpToDate hospitals demonstrated:

• Lower mortality – 11,500 lives saved over a three-year period

• Shorter lengths of stay – hospitals saved approximately 372,500 hospital days per year

• Improved hospital quality – better quality performance for every condition on the Hospital Quality Alliance metrics

The study, Use of UpToDate and Outcomes in US Hospitals, was published this morning in the Journal of Hospital Medicine. The press release is attached. This is the second study to demonstrate improved outcomes with the use of UpToDate: the 2008 Solucient study also showed an association between use of UpToDate and reductions in length of stay and adverse complications.
