Funding & other support for the Biology Project

The Biology Project is funded with a 2-year grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Michael Gottfredson and Tom Bourgeois from UA's Office of Undergraduate Education were instrumental in applying for and receiving this grant.

The Biology Project is closely associated with the University of Arizona Biology Learning Center. The Biology Learning Center and The Biology Project have received additional support from the following sponsors:

The Web Karyotyping Activity is based loosely on an activity developed by Kristie Geiger Stevens, Catalina Foothills High School, Tucson, Arizona, and Denice Warren and Deborah Alongi, as part of the Image Processing for Teaching (IPT) project, University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. Chromosome images courtesy of the Center for Image Processing in Education, which distributes materials created by the University of Arizona's IPT project.

Hardware and Software

This web site is developed with Macintosh computers. The primary pieces of software used for web page creation are Adobe Photoshop, BBEdit, HTML Editor, GifBuilder, Debabelizer, MacMolecule2, and NIH Image.

The web server is a Windows NT server, running Cold Fusion.
