The spleen weighed 200g, with a firm consistency and normal cut surface appearance. Several enlarged para-aortic lymph nodes were identified. Bone marrow sample taken during life was reviewed. Click here to see it.
The picture on the left shows a section of spleen stained with haematoxylin and eosin. Notice the cells present are separated by pale pink material. On the right is a similar area of spleen stained with Congo Red for amyloid.
