This home page contains the description of atherosclerotic heart disease and the measures you can take in order to prevent it. Atherosclerosis is the process by which the lumen of the artery is narrowed by targeted areas of deposited lipids, followed by smooth muscle cell proliferation, collagen formation, and calcification. In other words, the hole of the artery is gradually narrowed which results in the restriction of the blood flow. By having the proper diet, plenty of exercise, and abstinence from smoking, you can reduce the risk of having atherosclerosis.
