Monday, June 7 10:45-11:45	Denice Warren Biology Project	A Practical Introduction to Web Site Design This talk will use existing UA web sites to illustrate tips on how to: make a site usable and worth coming back to establish a site identity make a site easy to navigate arrange content in a predictable way design for an audience improve the readability of web pages
Monday, June 7 1:15-2:30	Madeleine Lapointe Biology Project	Instructional Design: How do people learn? How do we create skilled learners? What should we keep in mind when creating learning materials for the Web? In particular, we will look at applications of learning theory to The Biology Project and ways faculty can use this design for their own content.
Tuesday, June 8 8:30-9:30	Madeleine Lapointe	Instructional Design: Where does one start? This lecture will cover strategies for developing for projects, sites, and pages, with an emphasis on how to create an attractive and functional web site. Topics include how to create an illusion of depth on your web pages.
Tuesday, June 8 9:45-10:45	Denice Warren	Course Materials on the Web A guided tour of on-line syllabi, lecture notes, treasure hunts, problem sets, quizzes, simulations, discussion groups, and student projects.
Wednesday, June 9 8:30-9:45	Denice Warren	Preparing Images for the World Wide Web (aka, "Conceptual Photoshop") This talk will cover the basic concepts that are important when creating graphics for the web. Topics include: basics of digital image processing order of operations optimizing graphics for the web pros & cons of different file formats
Thursday, June 10 8:30-9:30	Harold Perry Biochemistry	Copyright and the Web This session will focus on the copyright law as it applies to web site development. Real life web sites that infringe copyright will be shown and the rules governing fair use will be explored. Methods for protecting your own work will also be discussed.
Friday, June 11 8:30-9:30	Ken Williams MCB Dept.	Lost in Cyberspace?: Strategies for attracting visitors to your site An overview of how web-based search engines work and how to achieve high rankings in user-initiated searches relevant to your site. This lecture will also include a review of different approaches being used to market web sites.
Friday, June 11 1:15-2:15	Ken Williams	Building Website Infrastructure from a Not-Too-Technical Perspective A survey of options for harnessing hardware, software and development tools to create a dynamic presence on the web.
